Mobility

Technology has evolved dramatically. We are used by now to its quick change and have learned to adapt quickly. But technology hasn’t quite have the time to do it properly.

As new communication forms, and hardware and software possibilities emerge; basic features and protocols haven’t had time to evolve as quickly, they have been reused not in a straight-forward manner, but in a contouring way. Let’s keep in mind, it’s necessary to reach a consensus to agree on standards… In the meantime, we use what we have as long as it works.

This has brought a variety of in-house options from every provider / developer. And, new challenges have arisen. How do we manage:

  • security
  • mobility
  • identity
  • usability

Mobility! At the beginning of times, everything was static. Nowadays every device is dynamic, smaller and with more processing power. The technology it runs on was not designed to this movement. NEW protocols and security measures are yet to come…

Cloud computing is an example of how even “recent technology” is now moving to a distinct platform. This video illustrates it nicely from the identity POV (up until minute 1:35 is relevant),

Identity! As also mentioned in the previous video, has brought PRIVACY, USABILITY and SECURITY concerns. I will post more regarding this in the future. At this time, I leave you a second video that shows the Federation possibilities that different organizations (countries, universities, companies) have been working on to provide a more integrated mobile IDENTITY technology.
